"Black Madonna" is an exploration of an archetype that has been at the core of human imagination since prehistory. Using texts and images culled from both ancient and modern sources "Black Madonna" reveals a hidden link between the Gnostic traditions of the western world including, Judaism, Christianity and Islam. "Black Madonna" is a cantata for female soloists with chorus, and an ensemble of classical, folk and electronic instruments.

"Black Madonna" was featured in "Star Crossed", choreographed for Pilobolus Dance Theater by Alison Chase.
